Why Your Detailing Website Is Not Getting Bookings

The reasons a car detailing site gets traffic but no bookings, in the order worth fixing: the price table, the gallery, deposits, speed and coverage areas.

Start with the diagnosis, not the redesign

A detailing site with visits and no bookings is failing at one of five specific things. Work through these in order; the first two account for most of it.

1. The customer cannot price their own car

This is the big one. Detailing prices vary by vehicle size and by package, and a customer with a seven-seater looking at a full valet needs one number: theirs.

"From £120" tells them nothing except that the real figure is higher. A service list with one price each is wrong for half of them. And "contact for a quote" is where the visit ends.

The fix: a table with package levels down one axis and vehicle sizes across the other, with real prices in every cell. Add examples so people can place their own car — small for a Fiesta or Polo, medium for a Golf or Focus, large for a Qashqai or an estate, van for a Transit. Then a note on the conditions: heavy soiling, pet hair, and what happens if the car is worse than described.

Detailing is bought on photographs, and most detailing galleries are a grid of finished cars in the sun. A clean car does not sell a valet. The difference does.

The fix: before-and-after pairs from the same angle, grouped by service, with at least one close-up per job — swirl marks gone, a seat that was ruined, a wheel arch that was not. Ten jobs shot properly beat a hundred glamour shots. Then compress them, because the page has to be fast or nobody sees them at all.

3. Saturday morning gets booked and then cancelled

If you take bookings without a deposit, the weekend slots that matter are the ones people abandon on Friday night.

The fix: switch deposits on in Booksy, Fresha, Square, Acuity or Urable. Twenty or twenty-five per cent is enough to change behaviour and low enough not to lose bookings. State the cancellation terms plainly next to the button, in normal words.

4. The page takes four seconds

Gallery-heavy sites are slow and detailing sites are the most gallery-heavy of all.

The fix: resize every image to what the layout actually shows, serve modern formats, lazy-load below the fold, generate real thumbnails, and stop loading the booking widget on every page. Under two seconds on mobile data, with the gallery, is achievable.

5. Add-ons are offered on arrival instead of at booking

Engine bay, pet hair, ceramic top-up, headlight restoration, seat extraction. Offered on the drive, half of them are declined out of surprise about the price. Offered at booking, a good share are taken.

The fix: configure add-ons in the booking tool with prices, and list them on the package pages so the customer arrives having already decided.

6. Only one town exists on the site

If you cover eight towns and the site names one, the searches in the other seven go elsewhere.

The fix: a real page for each significant area, with the travel conditions stated — where you can work, whether you need power and water, and any minimum spend for that distance.

7. Coating claims are either vague or absurd

"Lasts a lifetime" reads as a lie to anyone who has researched coatings, and vagueness reads as inexperience.

The fix: honest durability by product, what maintenance is required to keep it, and what the warranty actually covers. Customers spending four figures on a coating read carefully, and honesty converts them.

8. You cannot tell which page produced the booking

Then every fix above is guesswork.

The fix: track booking completions and phone taps as conversions, tagged with the landing page. Two weeks of data reorders this list for your business.

The order to work in

Price table first. Gallery second. Deposits third. Those three usually transform a site that already has traffic. Speed, add-ons, area pages and coating honesty are the next tier.

Where this sits

Our car detailing websites are built with the size-based table, the records gallery, deposits and area pages in place, at a fixed price. The wider version of this diagnosis is on the automotive page. If you do one thing this week, publish the grid.
