What changes for a UK business

  • GDC and CQC display requirements

Dental and clinical sites show the practitioners' GDC registration, the complaints procedure and the CQC registration and rating where applicable, built into the template so they cannot be removed by accident.

  • UK GDPR and PECR cookies

Analytics and marketing cookies load only after consent, refusing is as easy as accepting, and the banner does not shift the layout. A privacy notice and processing agreements with the tools that hold client data.

  • Accessibility

The Equality Act does not name a technical standard, but WCAG 2.2 AA is what is expected, and it is what we build to.

  • Company details in the footer

Registered name, number and address where you are a limited company, as the Companies Act requires. Small, but it is the sort of thing that gets a site flagged.

Questions

What UK businesses ask first

Do you know the GDC and CQC website rules?

Yes. A dental practice website has to show the GDC registration of the practitioners, the complaints procedure, and the practice's CQC registration and rating where applicable. We build these into the footer and the about page so they cannot be accidentally removed, and we check the current guidance at build time because it changes.

What does a UK GDPR cookie banner need to do?

Under PECR, analytics and marketing cookies need consent before they are set, and refusing has to be as easy as accepting. Most banners get this wrong and slow the page down while they do it. Ours loads nothing non-essential until consent, without the layout jumping around.

Which booking tools do you work with in the UK?

Salons: Fresha, Treatwell, Booksy and Phorest. Clinics: Cliniko, Semble, Jane and Dentally. Trades: Tradify and Checkatrade leads into a proper quote form. Studios: Mindbody, Glofox, TeamUp. All embed and style to match.

Is a .co.uk domain better than .com?

For a business that serves one country, .co.uk tells both Google and your customers where you are, and it is what people expect to type. If you already own the .com, we point it at the .co.uk so nothing is lost.
