The Best Trade Websites in 2026, and What They Share

Not the flashiest plumber and electrician websites; the ones that produce jobs. The nine traits they share in 2026.

Best means the phone rings

The best trade website is the one that turns a stranger's search on a phone into a call or a photo quote for your business, in the towns you actually serve. The plumber, electrician, builder and landscaper sites we have built and audited that measurably do this share nine traits. None is a drone shot of a van.

1. Tap-to-call above everything

A call button in the header on every page, visible on a phone without scrolling, with "24/7" or the hours beside it. The emergency customer does not read; they tap.

2. A quote form that takes photos

Six fields and a camera button. Name, mobile, town, what needs doing, photos, when. It lands on the tradesperson's phone within a minute, through the job software or a notification. The best sites get more photo quotes than form messages, because a photo is how customers describe jobs.

3. Under two seconds on a phone with poor signal

Fast despite job photos, because the photos are sized and lazy-loaded, the hero is prioritised, and there is no slider. Passes Core Web Vitals on mobile. Customers on site with one bar see the call button.

4. A page per town served

Real pages, not a template with the town name swapped. Recent jobs in that town with photos, the areas and estates you know, travel time, reviews from customers there, the call button. These rank for "[trade] [town]" in each town, which is where the growth comes from.

5. A page per service

Boiler repair, rewire, EV charger, patio, roof repair, each with what it involves, how it is priced or quoted, how long, photos of your work, accreditations relevant to it, FAQs, Call and Quote buttons. Live booking for standard services where the software allows.

6. Credentials displayed, linked to the registers

Registration numbers (Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, licence numbers by state or province), insurance, trade body memberships, guarantees, shown in a trust bar on every page and in full on an About page, each linked to the register where a customer can verify it. Customers letting a stranger in check.

7. Real jobs, real faces

Photos of the team and the vans, and of finished jobs with a line about each. No stock handshakes. The best sites look like the business because they are photographs of it.

8. Reviews where the decision happens

Google reviews pulled onto the site with reserved space, near the call and quote buttons on service and area pages, not on a testimonials page nobody opens.

9. Measured by town and service

Call clicks and quote submissions tracked by page, so the owner knows the Ruislip page produced six calls and the EV charger page produced four quotes last month. A tracking number where most enquiries are calls. The best sites are the ones their owners can see paying.

What they do not share

  • A look. Bold and industrial; clean and premium; friendly and local. All work.
  • A platform. Good WordPress themes and framework builds both appear; heavy builder templates rarely, because of trait 3.
  • Big budgets. Most are mid four figures.
  • Many pages beyond the area and service templates.

Check yours

On your phone, mobile data, private window:

  1. Is there a tappable call button without scrolling?
  2. Does the page appear in under two seconds?
  3. Can you send a photo from the quote form?
  4. Search your trade plus a town you cover that is not your base: are you on page one with a page about that town?
  5. Search your main service plus your town: page one with a service page?
  6. Find your registration number and click through to the register.
  7. Ask whoever runs the office how many calls and quotes the site produced last month, by town.

Seven passes is one of the best. Most trade sites we review pass one or two.

Where this sits

The nine traits are the specification for the trade websites we build and the checklist a diagnosis runs an existing site against. The look is chosen after, to suit the firm, on a structure that is already making the phone ring.
