The short answer

Yes. Daycare days, package credits and boarding stays can all be booked online by owners, against your real capacity, with vaccination records and signed agreements collected in the same flow. The software that does it is purpose built for kennels: Gingr, PetExec, Revelation Pets and Kennel Connection are the four we wire in most often.

The one condition is that the dog has been assessed. New dogs book an assessment, not a day. That is the only door a website should leave open to a stranger.

What each type of booking needs

Daycare days need a capacity check by day, not by time slot. Fifty dogs on a Monday and thirty on a Friday is normal, and the calendar has to know the difference. It also has to know whether this dog holds package credits and deduct one.

Packages need to sell online, hold a balance, expire on your terms and be visible in the owner's account. Owners who can see three days left buy the next block themselves.

Boarding stays need a date range rather than a day, a run or room allocated, peak and off-peak rates, minimum stays over holidays, part-day charging rules for the collection day, and a deposit taken at booking. Christmas and August are the weeks that pay for the year, and they are the weeks a phone-only kennel loses to the kennel with a calendar.

All four platforms handle these shapes. The differences between them are in reporting, grooming add-ons, multi-site handling and how their owner portal looks on a phone, so trial the ones on your shortlist with your own price list before choosing.

What the owner sees

An account. That is the part small kennels underestimate. Once a dog is registered and assessed, the owner logs in on their phone and books Tuesday and Thursday for the next six weeks in under a minute, sees their package balance, updates a vaccination certificate when reminded, and books August before it fills. They stop ringing, which is the point.

What has to be true before it works

  • The dog has passed an assessment, and the platform will not sell a day to a dog that has not.
  • The pet profile is complete: vaccinations with expiry dates, neutering status, feeding, medication, vet details, emergency contact.
  • Your agreements are signed in the registration flow.
  • Capacity in the platform matches capacity in the building, including the days you run reduced staffing.
  • Prices in the platform match the prices on the site, including peak rates and multi-dog discounts.
  • Deposit and cancellation rules are set and stated at the point of booking.

Get one of those wrong and the online calendar sells something you cannot deliver, which is worse than not having one.

What stays on the phone

Some things should. A first conversation about a nervous or reactive dog. A boarding stay for a dog on complex medication. A request for a run you do not usually let. Keep the phone number in the header on every page and answer it, because online booking is meant to remove the routine calls and leave room for the ones that need a person.

What it does not do

Online booking does not fill a diary on its own. It removes friction for owners who have already decided. The deciding happens on the pages before it: the facilities photography, the daily routine page, the requirements stated plainly, the licence and inspection rating, the reviews. A booking calendar bolted to a site that never shows the sleeping areas will sit unused.

How it goes on the site

Not on every page. The booking embed lives on one page for existing clients and the registration flow on another for new ones, so the reading pages stay fast. Service pages link through with the service preselected. Reserve the height of the embed so the page does not jump while it loads.

Test the whole thing from a phone, including inside the Instagram and Facebook in-app browsers, because that is where a large share of pet traffic arrives from. If an embed misbehaves there, send owners to the platform's hosted page instead and give them a link back.

Where this sits

Online booking for days and stays is one of the six must-haves on the dog daycare and boarding websites we build, and it is the reason the recommended tier for this kind of business runs past eight pages. On any pet business website the pattern is the same: the platform holds the diary and the records, the website gets the owner into it in one tap, and the assessment stands between a new dog and the calendar.
