Best means the job gets booked
The best repair website is the one that turns a search on a broken phone into a booked drop-off, callout or mail-in, without a phone call, and then stops the customer ringing to ask if it is ready. The repair shop, appliance, jewellery, bike, cobbler and IT support sites we have built and audited that measurably do this share nine traits. None of them is a drone shot of the high street.
1. Price tables for common repairs
By device and model for phones and computers. Callout fee and repair ranges by appliance. Service levels for bikes. Standard work for a jeweller or a cobbler. Per user or per device for support plans. Editable by the owner, so they stay true. The customer comparing three shops books the one that told them the number.
2. Book in one tap, with the fault captured
A Book button in the header on every page, opening RepairDesk, RepairShopr, Housecall Pro, Jobber or Acuity with the repair pre-selected, the item and model captured and the fault described. The best sites deep-link, so the button on the battery page books a battery.
3. A fault form for everything that needs a look
Item, make and model, symptoms, photos from the camera, whether it still powers on, and a call-back window. The diagnostic fee stated on the form. The site says plainly which repairs are fixed price and which are quoted after inspection.
4. Job tracking the customer can reach
Track my repair in the header, going to the software's status page or client hub, with status texts as jobs move. This one trait removes more phone calls than anything else on the list.
5. Warranty, parts and turnaround, stated
How long the warranty runs, what grade of parts you fit, how long a typical repair takes, and what happens if a part is discontinued. Plus a plain promise about data on devices, which is the unspoken worry on every phone and laptop handed over.
6. Under two seconds on a damaged phone
Fast despite workshop photography, because images are sized and lazy-loaded, the hero is prioritised and there is no slider. Passes Core Web Vitals on mobile.
7. A page per repair, and the brands listed
Screen replacement, battery, water damage, washing machine repair, watch service, resoling, e-bike diagnostics, each its own page with price, turnaround and a Book button. The brands and items you handle listed plainly, because customers search for the brand plus repair.
8. Mail-in where it applies, explained properly
Packaging guidance, insured postage, tracking and what happens on arrival, booked online. It is the difference between a high-street catchment and a national one for electronics, jewellery and shoe repair businesses.
9. A separate route for business buyers, and numbers the owner sees
Plans, inclusions, response times and monthly ranges for business IT support, kept apart from the walk-in flow, with a discovery call booking. Then booking clicks, fault forms and calls tracked by page, so the owner knows the screen page booked thirty repairs last month.
What they do not share
- A look. Clean and technical, warm and craft-led, bright and retail. All work.
- A platform. Good WordPress themes and framework builds both appear; heavy builder templates rarely, because of trait 6.
- Big budgets. Most are mid four figures.
- A type of business. A phone shop with a model-by-model table, an appliance engineer with a stated callout fee, a bike shop with priced service levels: all pass the same nine tests in their own terms.
Check yours
On your phone, mobile data, private window:
- Is there a Book button without scrolling? Tap it. Does it ask what the item is?
- Find the price of your most common repair. Time it.
- Find where you would report an unusual fault. Can you attach a photo?
- Find Track my repair. Does it go anywhere useful?
- Find the warranty length and the parts you fit.
- Does the page appear in under two seconds?
- Search your main repair plus your town. Page one, with a page about that repair?
- Find how mail-in works, if you offer it.
- Ask whoever runs the counter how many bookings the site produced last month, by page.
Nine passes is one of the best. Most repair sites we review pass two or three.
Where this sits
The nine traits are the specification for the repair business websites we build, and the checklist a diagnosis runs an existing site against. The look is chosen afterwards, to suit the shop, on a structure that is already booking jobs.
