What a grooming booking has to carry
A haircut booking needs a name and a time. A grooming booking needs the dog. Breed, weight, coat type and condition, temperament and handling notes, vaccination status, the owner's vet, and a signed consent covering matted coats and shave-downs. The duration depends on the dog, so the calendar has to vary the slot length. The price depends on size and coat, so the till has to vary too. And the salon wants the dog back in six weeks, so the system has to remind.
Generic appointment tools do none of that. Below are the platforms that do, judged on what a website needs from them.
MoeGo
For: grooming salons and mobile groomers, single or multi-van.
Website side: an online booking widget and a hosted booking page, with links you can point at a specific service so the Book button on your grooming page opens the right thing.
Grooming features: pet profiles with coat and behaviour notes, a pricing setup that varies by breed, size and service, intake and agreement forms, vaccination records and reminders, two-way SMS, deposits and no-show handling, repeat and rebooking prompts.
Strengths: built for groomers rather than adapted, quick to set up, the SMS is genuinely good. Watch: it is a grooming system, so a salon adding boarding will outgrow parts of it.
Gingr
For: salons attached to daycare or boarding.
Website side: a branded owner portal plus embeddable request and booking widgets.
Grooming features: pet profiles with vaccination tracking and expiry dates, custom pricing attributes, packages and memberships, report cards, add-on services.
Strengths: the strongest option when grooming is one service among several. Watch: more setup than a single-table salon needs, and priced for a facility.
Savvy Pet Spa
For: UK and Ireland grooming salons.
Website side: an online booking page and widget with pet details captured in the flow.
Grooming features: breed and size based service durations and pricing, client and pet records, consent and agreement forms, reminders and rebooking prompts, deposits.
Strengths: written for how UK salons actually run, including the language and the payment side. Watch: a smaller ecosystem than the US platforms.
Fresha
For: salons that also do a lot of walk-in style trade or share a building with a hair or beauty business.
Website side: a booking widget and a marketplace listing.
Grooming features: services with variants and durations, deposits and card capture, automated reminders, a marketplace that brings its own traffic.
Strengths: low barrier, strong payments. Watch: it is a general appointments platform, so pet specifics like vaccination expiry tracking are thinner. Confirm what it captures before you rely on it for consent.
Booksy
For: solo groomers who value the marketplace.
Website side: a booking widget and a profile page.
Strengths: simple, and the app brings some discovery. Watch: the same general-appointments caveat as Fresha, and the marketplace listing competes with your own site for your own name.
What your website needs from any of them
- A Book button in the header on every page, one tap, deep-linked so the service is already chosen.
- Pet profile, vaccination upload and consent inside the platform flow, so no health document or signature travels by email.
- A price table on the site that matches the platform's pricing, by size and coat, so nobody is surprised at the till.
- Slot lengths that vary, because a giant curly coat is not a bath and tidy.
- A deposit or card on file with the cancellation and no-show policy written on the booking page.
- Rebooking reminders at your interval, four, six or eight weeks, one tap to accept.
- Vaccination expiry reminders where the platform supports them.
- Tested in the Instagram in-app browser, because a large share of grooming traffic arrives from a link in bio.
- Tracking of booking clicks and call taps by page, so you know which service page fills the diary.
Choosing
- Salon only, US, Canada or Australia: MoeGo.
- Salon only, UK or Ireland: Savvy Pet Spa or MoeGo.
- Grooming inside a daycare or boarding business: Gingr.
- Solo groomer wanting the simplest possible start: Fresha or Booksy, accepting the pet-specific gaps.
- Mobile rounds: MoeGo, for the routing.
Already on something that works? Stay on it. The website's job is to get the owner into whichever platform you run, in one tap, with the price already known.
Where this sits
Embedding whichever platform a salon runs, matching the site's price table to it, and putting vaccination and consent in front of the first visit rather than behind it is the core of a dog grooming salon website, and the same pattern runs through the other pet business sites we build. The platform holds the dog's record. The site gets the owner into it before they ring the next salon.
