What Autoflow actually gives a body shop site
Autoflow is not a booking widget, and treating it like one is the mistake most shops make. It is a customer communication system: digital inspections with photographs and video, sent to the customer by text, with approval captured on their phone.
For a body shop that matters because your bottleneck is not the diary. It is the approval on the additional panel you found once the bumper came off.
So the website's job is intake, and Autoflow's job is everything after.
The division of labour
Your site takes the estimate request: four photographs, the registration, the postcode, the insurance question, a mobile number. It lands as a lead.
Autoflow runs the job from there: the inspection with photographs, the estimate sent by text, the approval, the additional work authorisation, the updates while the car is in.
Do not try to make Autoflow's forms the front door. Its strength is on the other side of the sale.
Wiring the intake
Post your estimate form's submission into Autoflow as a customer and vehicle record with the images attached, through its API or a webhook via your automation tool of choice. If that is not available on your plan, the fallback is a notification to the shop plus a manual creation, which is thirty seconds and still worth it.
What must not happen is photographs sitting in an email inbox while the job record is empty. That is how a four-image estimate becomes a phone call asking the customer to send them again.
The rule: nothing loads until the customer taps
If you do embed anything — a booking link for an inspection slot, or the client-facing approval page — load it on tap or on its own page. Never in the header, never in the footer, never as a widget on the home page.
Body shop sites are already heavy with gallery images. A third-party script on every page is the second before-two-seconds you cannot afford.
Configure Autoflow before the site points at it
- Inspection templates for the work you actually do: accident damage, smart repair, PDR, alloy refurbishment. Generic templates produce generic reports.
- Photograph and video prompts in each template, because the approval loop is only persuasive if the customer can see what you can see.
- Estimate templates with the guarantee wording and the promise about stopping for additional work, so it is in every message rather than remembered sometimes.
- Text as the primary channel, with email as backup. Body shop customers wait days and check messages.
- Status updates at fixed points: car received, stripped, parts ordered, in paint, ready. The single biggest source of body shop complaints is silence, and this fixes it for free.
Use the approval loop as a selling point
Most shops treat digital approval as an internal efficiency. Say it on the site instead.
One short section: while your car is with us you will get photographs by text at each stage, and if we find anything that changes the price we will send you the picture and the revised figure and wait for your approval before continuing.
That paragraph, on the process page and in the estimate email, converts. It is the answer to the fear that a body shop bill grows once they have the keys.
Testing
Run a real job through: submit your own estimate form outdoors on mobile data with four large photographs, check the record and images arrive in Autoflow, then send yourself an inspection and an estimate and approve it on a phone.
Check the text messages read sensibly and carry your shop name. Check the approval page works in the Facebook in-app browser, which is where a lot of local traffic lives.
Tracking
Fire a conversion when the estimate form is submitted, tagged with the landing page, and track taps on the phone number too. On a body shop site, calls and form submissions run at similar volumes and you need both.
Then track one thing beyond the site: the proportion of estimates approved. That is the number Autoflow exists to move.
Common mistakes
Using Autoflow's intake as the front door. Leaving photographs in an inbox. Loading scripts on every page of a gallery-heavy site. Generic inspection templates. And never telling customers on the website that the approval loop exists, which wastes the best selling point the system gives you.
Where this sits
Our body shop websites wire the estimate form into Autoflow, Garage Hive, Shopmonkey or Tekmetric and keep the pages under two seconds, at a fixed price. The wider trade version is on the automotive page. Your site sells the job; Autoflow sells the extra panel.
