This choice splits by workshop size, not by feature

Motorcycle workshops run one of two kinds of system, and the useful question is which kind you are.

Autoflow and Workshop Software are full garage platforms: job cards, parts, technicians, invoicing, with booking as one part of a larger system. Acuity and Square Appointments are diaries with payments attached — far less machinery, and enough for a one- or two-bay workshop that does not need job-card workflow.

Picking the wrong side of that line is the common mistake. A sole trader drowning in a garage platform is as badly served as a six-bay workshop trying to run parts through a calendar app.

What either kind has to capture

Whichever side you land on, the booking has to take the bike, not just the customer. Make, model and engine size decide the slot length, the price and often whether you will take the job at all. A booking that arrives as "Tuesday, 10am, Dave" is a phone call you still have to make.

Questions for the garage platforms

Can service intervals drive a reminder? A bike serviced in April is a booking next April. Check whether the system tracks the interval per bike and can prompt, rather than leaving it in a job history nobody reads.

Does the diary understand bay and ramp constraints? Some jobs need a specific lift. If capacity is modelled as appointments-per-hour, you will double-book the one ramp that matters.

How much of it will you actually use? A platform priced for parts, invoicing and technician tracking is poor value if you only ever open the diary.

Questions for the lighter tools

Can it hold different durations per job type? A tyre change and a full service are not the same slot. Check appointment types carry their own lengths and prices.

Will it take a deposit? Seasonal work and storage bookings are where no-shows cost most, and a card held at booking is the fix.

Can you attach the bike details to the booking? Some diaries only offer a notes field. That is workable, but check it reaches your phone rather than sitting in a dashboard.

The seasonal question nobody asks in a demo

Pre-season checks and winter storage arrive in a spike. Ask what happens when eighty bookings land in a fortnight: whether you can cap slots per day, open a separate seasonal calendar, and close it when you are full — without editing every appointment type by hand.

What it does to the page

Test the embed on a phone, on mobile data. Some load a large script and shift the layout while it arrives. Check the form is usable one-handed and that the page does not jump, because a rider comparing three workshops will not fight a form.

Whatever you choose, load the widget only on the booking page. Marque pages and the price table are what earn the booking, and a site-wide script slows exactly those.

Where this sits

Every motorcycle workshop website we build embeds whichever system fits your size, at a fixed price. For what the build costs, see what a motorcycle workshop website costs.
