What detailing needs from a booking system

Four things, and most schedulers do two of them.

Packages priced by vehicle size, so a large estate on a full valet shows the right figure. Add-ons at booking, because that is where the margin is. A deposit, because Saturday morning is the slot people cancel. And an address for mobile work, with enough travel time in the diary that the day does not collapse.

Judge every tool below on those four.

Booksy

Built for appointment businesses and popular with mobile detailers.

Strong at: service variants, so one package can carry four prices by vehicle size. Add-ons at booking. Deposits and card capture. A marketplace that brings some traffic of its own. Good reminders.

Weak at: the marketplace cuts both ways, since it puts you beside competitors. Travel time for mobile work needs configuring carefully or the diary overbooks.

Choose it if: you are mobile, you want deposits, and you do not mind being listed.

Fresha

Free for the core scheduling, which is why it is everywhere.

Strong at: cost. Unlimited bookings on the free tier with a fee only on card payments and marketplace bookings. Handles service variants and add-ons well. Clean interface, good reminders.

Weak at: it is built for salons, so the language and defaults need work for vehicles. Mobile address handling is less natural than Booksy's.

Choose it if: you want good scheduling at almost no fixed cost and you are prepared to configure around the salon assumptions.

Square Appointments

Best if you already take card payments through Square.

Strong at: payments and deposits, which are native and reliable. Duration by service variant. Solid free tier for a single operator. Point of sale for the unit, which matters if you sell products.

Weak at: less flexible on complex add-on structures than Booksy or Acuity. Marketing features are thinner.

Choose it if: you have a unit, take cards, and want one system for bookings and till.

Acuity

The most configurable of the five.

Strong at: rules. Different durations and prices per variant, intake questions before payment, deposits or full prepayment, packages and memberships, and the ability to gate certain services behind an enquiry. If your pricing is complicated, Acuity will hold it.

Weak at: you have to build it. The flexibility is real and so is the setup time. No marketplace traffic.

Choose it if: your package structure is genuinely complex, or you run maintenance plans.

Urable

Purpose-built for detailing and coating businesses, which is the argument for it.

Strong at: it already thinks in vehicles. Vehicle records, size-based pricing, coating warranty tracking, ceramic coating documentation, and estimates for correction work. Built by people who know the trade.

Weak at: a smaller ecosystem, and a cost that only makes sense once detailing is your full income.

Choose it if: coatings and correction are a serious part of your business and you want warranty records handled properly.

What your website needs from any of them

  • The price table on your own site, in HTML, not only inside the booking widget. Google reads your page, not the iframe.
  • Deposits switched on, particularly for weekend slots.
  • Add-ons visible at the point of booking, not offered on arrival.
  • Travel time configured for mobile work, and the coverage area stated before the form.
  • Nothing loading from the booking tool until the customer taps the button.

Choosing

Mobile and want deposits with some marketplace traffic: Booksy. Want it nearly free: Fresha. Already on Square with a unit: Square Appointments. Complicated packages or memberships: Acuity. Coatings and warranties at the centre of the business: Urable.

Where this sits

Our car detailing websites work with whichever of these you run, with the price table on the site and the booking wired in, at a fixed price. The wider trade version is on the automotive page. Pick for deposits and vehicle size, and the rest is preference.
