You are not losing to the shop down the road, you are losing to a warehouse

A tyre shop competes with an online seller that has no fitters, no premises cost and a cheaper headline price. The site's whole job is to make the fitted total and the appointment beat that. Most tyre shop sites do not try.

Cause 1: there is no way to find a tyre on the site

A driver who needs tyres wants to know what fits and what it costs, fitted. If the site cannot answer, they type the size into a search engine and buy from whoever can — then arrive at a fitter as a low-margin fitting-only job, if they arrive at all.

The symptom: a phone number and "call for sizes".

The change: tyre search by registration or size, returning what you stock with the fitted price. Not the tyre price with fitting discovered at checkout — the total. Your total frequently beats the online seller's once fitting is added, which is the argument you are currently not making.

Cause 2: the slot is a separate conversation

Having found a tyre, the driver has to ring to arrange fitting. That reintroduces the phone call the search just removed, and it is where the journey ends.

The change: one flow, tyre to slot, landing in your diary with the right duration. Autoflow, Garage Hive, Shopmonkey, Tekmetric and Workshop Software all handle the diary.

Cause 3: the profitable services are invisible

Alignment, puncture repair, balancing, TPMS, brakes. Higher margin than tyres, and on most sites they are six words in a list.

The symptom: searching your own site for "wheel alignment" returns nothing useful.

The change: a page per service, priced, bookable. Somebody searching "wheel alignment near me" is a customer your site currently cannot be found by.

Cause 4: mobile fitting is offered but not specified

If you fit at the roadside or on a driveway and the site does not say where or what it costs, every enquiry becomes a conversation and most do not start.

The change: a mobile fitting page with areas covered, address capture at booking, and the surcharge stated. It is a premium service and pricing it openly sells it.

Logos rank for nothing. A page per brand you genuinely stock ranks for brand-plus-town, which is a real search with very little competition.

Fix them in this order

Tyre search and the fitting slot first — together they are the difference between a brochure and a shop. Then the service pages, because they are the margin. Then mobile fitting and brands.

Where this sits

Our tyre shop websites are built around the search and the slot, at a fixed price. The audit version is the tyre shop checklist. The wider trade view is on the automotive page.
