Riders are specific, and a general site cannot answer them
A rider wants three things confirmed before booking: that you have worked on their marque, what it costs for their engine size, and that you will not scuff the fairings. A site that answers none of them gets phone calls instead of bookings, or nothing at all.
Cause 1: the rider cannot tell whether you work on their bike
"All makes and models" tells a Ducati owner nothing. Riders search by marque and model, and if you have no page for theirs, you are not in the results at all.
The symptom: a strip of manufacturer logos.
The change: a page for each marque you genuinely specialise in — what you do on it, what you keep in stock, what you have seen go wrong. Logos rank for nothing; a marque page is a search result you do not currently have.
Cause 2: service prices are only by phone
A rider comparing three workshops drops the one that would not say. Engine size is the honest variable, so price on it.
The change: service prices by engine size or bike type, stated as numbers. You are not committing to every possible job — you are staying in the shortlist.
Cause 3: the booking does not capture the bike
The symptom: a contact form, so you ring back to find out what is arriving and then order parts while the bike waits.
The change: capture make, model, year and registration at booking. Autoflow and Workshop Software handle it from the workshop side; Acuity or Square Appointments are enough for a simpler diary. Details captured at booking are parts you are not waiting for.
Cause 4: tyres and the annual test are buried
These are the two jobs a rider searches for by name, and on most workshop sites both live inside a general servicing page.
The change: a page each, priced and bookable. Tyre-plus-marque and test-plus-town are low-competition searches with a rider at the end of them.
Cause 5: the season is not worked before it arrives
Motorcycle work is violently seasonal. March is chaos, November is empty, and the site does nothing about either.
The change: a pre-season check page and a winter storage page, both bookable, promoted before the rush rather than during it. Two pages and two reminder sends will flatten the year more than any advertising.
Cause 6: nothing shows care
A rider is judging whether you will treat the bike properly.
The change: real photographs of your own bench and live Google reviews. A clean workshop photograph does more than any paragraph about craftsmanship.
Fix them in this order
Marque pages first — they are how riders find a workshop at all. Prices second. The booking fields third. Then tyres and test as their own pages, then the seasonal pair before the season turns.
Where this sits
Our motorcycle workshop websites ship with marque pages and bike-detail booking, at a fixed price. The audit version is the motorcycle workshop checklist. The wider trade view is on the automotive page.
