The five, and what they already share

Blueprint OMS, Sycle, Auditdata, Cliniko and Jane are the systems hearing clinics run. All five offer online booking with separate appointment types for tests, fittings and follow-ups, which is the structural thing an audiology diary needs and the reason a generic calendar widget never survives contact with one.

The first split is not features, it is category. Blueprint OMS, Sycle and Auditdata are built for hearing care. Cliniko and Jane are general practice-management systems that a smaller clinic often already owns for other reasons. Either category can sit behind a booking button on your site.

Why there is no scoring table here

Ranking practice software in the abstract helps nobody. What suits one audiologist doing tests and wax removal is not what suits a three-clinic group with a funded caseload.

So: the questions that separate these five for a hearing clinic. Ask them on a trial, with your own appointment types loaded, before you sign.

Can somebody book on behalf of somebody else?

This is the audiology-specific one, and it is the question most clinics never think to ask. A large share of first bookings are made by an adult child for a parent. Watch what the form does with that: whether the patient's name and date of birth can differ from the contact details, whose phone number gets the reminder, and whose email receives the confirmation. A system that assumes the booker is the patient sends the reminder to the wrong person and the parent misses the test.

Can a wax removal appointment stand alone?

Wax removal is searched for on its own and booked on its own, often by somebody who has no interest in a hearing test today. Check that it can exist as its own bookable type with its own duration and its own price, and that reaching it does not require the patient to walk through a test pathway first.

Your wax removal page needs a button that books wax removal, and your test page needs a button that books a test. Ask whether the system produces a direct link or embed per appointment type. Without it, every page ends up pointing at one generic diary and the patient has to work out which of six options applies to them.

What does the booking step look like at large text?

Open the trial booking flow on a phone with the system text size turned up. Check whether labels stay visible, whether the date picker is still tappable, and whether the layout still fits. Some embeds are fixed-width and simply clip. If the booking step is the one part of your site that fails at scaled text, it fails at the only step that matters.

Can a patient choose the audiologist?

Where more than one clinician works in the clinic, some patients want the person they saw last time. Check whether availability can be filtered to one audiologist, whether each can carry their own appointment types, and whether a link exists that books that person — because that link is what the profile page needs.

Does the funded appointment have somewhere to go?

If a public or insurance-funded route applies where you practise, the site will have a page explaining it, and that page needs an action. Ask whether an appointment type can be restricted or labelled for that route, and what the flow asks the patient. Do not let the software decide how eligibility is described — that wording belongs to the rules of your own country.

And the phone number still wins some of them

Whichever you pick, put the clinic number and opening hours immediately beside the widget. Some patients here will never use a form, and a page offering only a form loses them silently. Load the widget on the page where someone books, not on every page, so the pages doing the explaining stay quick.

Where this sits

Every hearing clinic website we build embeds whichever of these five you run, styled to match, at a fixed price. For what the build itself costs, see what a hearing clinic website costs. If bookings are not arriving from the site you have, start with why your hearing clinic site gets no bookings.
